This Privacy Policy explains how The Mortgage Ledger (“we”, “us”) handles information when you use this website. The calculator runs in your browser; we aim to collect as little as possible.

Information we collect

• The figures you enter (home price, down payment, rate, region) are processed in your browser to calculate a payment. They are not sent to us or stored on a server.
• Your cookie/consent choice is saved locally in your browser (localStorage) so we don’t ask again.
• Standard server logs. Our hosting provider may record basic technical data (e.g. IP address, browser type) for security and reliability, as is typical for any website.

Live rate data

National interest rates are fetched on our server from public sources — the U.S. Federal Reserve (FRED), the Bank of Canada, and the Bank of England (via the UK Office for National Statistics). Your browser requests these from us, not directly from those providers, so your details are not shared with them.

Rate-alert emails (optional)

If you choose to sign up for rate-change alerts, we collect your email address and the region you picked, and use them only to email you when the national average rate moves. We never sell or share this for advertising.

• Your subscription is stored with our hosting/database provider, and the emails are sent through a third-party email service (Resend) acting on our behalf as a processor.
• Every alert includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time; doing so deletes your subscription.
• You can also ask us to remove your email by contacting us (below).

Advertising

We use Google AdSense to display ads, which helps keep these calculators free. Google and its partners (third-party vendors) use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads, including based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

• Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
• You can opt out of personalised advertising in your Google Ads Settings, or opt out of some third-party vendors’ cookies at aboutads.info.
